Jonathan Bye, Director of Eric Lloyd & Co, is delighted to be able to report a record breaking year for residential property sales. Both of the firm’s offices have been “top of the pops” on the Rightmove charts for the largest number of properties sale agreed during 2015 in their respective postcode areas.  Values have gently moved forward during the year.  Demand has been particularly strong for properties in and around the harbour in Brixham, bungalows at Broadsands as well as in the villages of Churston and Galmpton.  The number of properties sold by Eric Lloyd & Co in 2015 showed an increase of nearly 20% when compared to 2014.  Jonathan commented “the results we have witnessed this year reinforce the continued underlying strength of the property market in South Devon.  Many sales have been to local buyers some up-sizing and others downsizing.  The year has also seen the welcome return of first time buyers. Properties in around the harbour bowl in Brixham have continued to create strong demand with many being sold as holiday homes.”  What’s in store for 2016?  The completion of the new South Devon Highway can only have a positive impact on the Torbay property market.  It remains to be seen what impact if any the recent changes in stamp duty will have on second homes and buy to let properties.  An essential element for the market to remain buoyant is a continuing flow of new listings.  Now is the time to place your property onto the market if you are considering a move in 2016!
