Moving Day
Moving house can be stressful and here at Eric Lloyd & Co. we try to help alleviate any concerns.
Once you have agreed a sale, it is worth starting to shop around for removers to assist on the day. Most home owners under estimate the amount of items that they have to move so it is always worth adding 20% onto the estimated amount of boxes that you will require. Some removal companies have a downloadable list that you can use to calculate the boxes needed.
When your solicitor is ready to exchange, you can then arrange a mutually convenient date for completion with your buyers and book your removal company. Here at Eric Lloyd & Co. our sales progression team can help to liaise between yourself and your buyer to organise a completion date.
Between exchange and completion, then you can start packing, labelling boxes as you go along with the details of the contents and the rooms in which are they to be placed. Don't forget to keep any important documents separate.
It is worth dropping a spare key into our office prior to the moving day which we will hold for you until your solicitors gives us permission to release it to your buyer. That way, when you have finished packing you can lock up and pop your key through the letter box and be on your way to your new home. Not forgetting to take final meter readings before you go.
