SELLING YOUR HOME IN WINTER

While most people recognise spring as the start of the annual house selling season, choosing the colder months has some advantages when selling your home.

Although there are fewer buyers looking, those who are active are usually very committed to finding their new home.

If you are a first time buyer, then the first few weeks in January will be important as the stamp duty concession, introduced in 2023, will end in Spring 2025.  Also, for existing home owners purchasing a new home the threshold for paying tax will change from £250,000 to £125,000 meaning an extra £2,500 in real terms.

After the festive break, we find that many potential buyers will make plans for the year ahead and start their search for a new home by checking out the properties currently listed for sale.

If you are considering a move in 2025, then your first call should be to the Eric Lloyd & Co. offices in Brixham (01803 852773) or Paignton (01803 844466) to arrange for a free marketing appraisal from our valuer, Edwin Morgan.
